i simply do not care about the met gala
i refuse to stay up all night and screw my sleep schedule just to watch a bunch of rich people who don't even know how to serve cunt properly.
so the met gala is tonight, and as a fashion and pop culture lover myself, i’m not even interested in staying up all night for it. most celebrities nowadays bore me to death, and it surprises me because they’re all wealthy. i guess they didn’t lie when they said money can’t buy you a personality. money can’t buy you style.
fashion, for me, is more about your character and vibe. real bad bitches, real it girls, can make cheap clothing look good. it all has to do with your taste. wearing versace and a $50k+ bag won’t make you a fashion icon. it’s the vibe you’re giving, the aesthetic you’re choosing, and how you’re carrying it.
another bad bitch lesson i’m gonna give you guys is that real fashion icons don’t lock themselves into one aesthetic. they blend everything together. a good example is lana del rey in her born to die album. the way she blended orchestral strings with hip-hop drums was so unusual yet so unique. now make that about fashion.
since we’re in an era where aesthetics are a big thing — “clean girl,” “old money,” “mob wife,” etc. — everybody now looks the same. when i see those videos online about how to find your aesthetic, i can’t help but feel suffocated. why are we limiting ourselves and putting ourselves inside invisible boxes? it’s good to have a signature perfume, a signature color, and staple pieces, but choosing one style and sticking with it forever is slow death to me.
another thing: caring about and studying brands, labels, and their collections doesn’t make you a fashion expert. you’re just like a nerd in a classroom. real cool kids don’t play by the rules. who gives a fuck whether certain fabrics or colors go together? who cares about color analysis? it’s a great foundation, but it’s not enough. no wonder why most fashion designers look like shit. it’s either serving cunt or not, that’s it. keep that fashion knowledge to yourself.
this leads me to wonder: though fashion knowledge doesn’t dictate whether you’re serving cunt or not, are the girlies attending the met doing enough research? every year we have looks that aren’t on theme, and you know what? it’s acceptable if you’re slaying. but most of them don’t.
don’t even get me started on the men. they shouldn’t even be allowed to attend the met gala. every year it’s a business meeting. if they’re that afraid of not appearing masculine when they’re not in a suit, then i don’t even know what to say. grow balls, i guess?
i’ve also noticed a pattern. when the public criticizes the looks, it’s almost always directed at women. just pure misogyny, or did we all lose hope in men?
at the end of the day, all i know is that i should be invited to the met. when i get invited, that’s when i’ll care about it. but in the meantime, i’ve got a life to live outside my phone.
i’ll come back to you next month with more from 𝑇𝐻𝐸 𝐵𝐴𝐵𝑌𝐷𝑂𝐿𝐿 𝐶𝑂𝐿𝑈𝑀𝑁 . 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠 𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑙𝑦, 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦𝑑𝑜𝑙𝑙.
